Maui Golf – Legendary Golf in Beautiful Resort Settings
Vacationing on Maui not only offers the best beaches in the world but some say the best golfing too!
Each of the five different golf areas is distinct and offers their own magnificent landscape.
Known as the “Grand Lady” of Maui’s resort courses, the Blue Course is elegantly laid out amidst the impeccable landscaping of Wailea. The Emerald Course was designed to be a “pure golf” experience with a backdrop resembling a tropical garden. The Gold Course stretches across the lower slopes of Mt. Haleakala and south Maui. The design concept behind the Gold was to create a classical, rugged style course, thus taking advantage of the natural sloping terrain and incorporates the best design elements of other world-renowned golf courses.
The Makena Resort North and South Courses offer the best golfing weather to be found anywhere in the world. The North Course goes out of its way to make golfers feel at one with their natural surroundings. The South Course features natural rolling fairways, undulating greens and captivating ocean and mountain views.
The Dunes at Maui Lani is known as the “British Open course on Maui”. The course boasts of clever hole designs and rugged terrain closely mimicking the birthplace of golf. A million years ago, The Dunes was submerged beneath the sea. Maui’s Central valley however, rests between two separate volcano mountain ranges. Over tens of thousands of years, as the volcanoes rose, and the sea receded from the Isthmus, sand dunes formed where the Dunes at Maui Lani is today. This is a classic golf in the heart of Maui.
Ka’anapali Golf Courses offer 36 holes of legendary golf that plays through the beautiful foothills of the West Maui Mountains and thrills golfers with panoramas of the coastline. The North Course is designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. It is a course that is distinctive and demanding. The Resort South Course was later redesigned by architect Arthur Jack Snyder and takes advantage of Ka’anapali’s distinct scenic beauty.
Three championship courses, The Bay, Village and The Plantation, set amidst Maui’s magnificent landscape, make Kapalua a world class golf experience. Each course presents its own challenge to a player’s abilities. The Mercedes Championship is held every January on Kapalua’s Plantation Course. This course unfurls across natural geographic formations and pineapple plantation fields that will literally take your breath away. The Bay Course features gently rolling fairways and generous greens. The Village Course provides a serene trek through Hawaiian headlands with stands of Cook and Norfolk pines along a gorgeous par 70.
